Boko Hramist loses in Konduga

The soldiers and youth vigilante killed scores of Boko Haram insurgents in Konduga, Borno State, as the militants attempted to advance on Maiduguri.
It was reported earlier today that Boko Haram launched attack in Konduga and were battling with the Nigerian military.
According to a security source, the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army halted the advancement and prevented the insurgents from approaching the state capital, Punch reports.
The source from the vigilante disclosed:
“Nobody can tell you the exact number of the insurgents killed but we have killed many of them, while others escaped with bullets wounds. Scores of the insurgents met their waterloo when they attempted to attack Konduga town on Monday.”
As a result many of the militants were killed, wounded and the rest retreated to the direction from which they came.
A military senior, who pleaded for anonymity, confirmed the development saying that at least 70 were killed.
“The insurgents came at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday to attack the town, but our men on ground effectively tackled them. Nobody can tell you the exact number of insurgents killed, but we have over 70 that we counted around the town, but there are others that may have been killed in the bushes.”
It would be recalled that the troubled town was first attacked on February 11, with Boko Haram having killed 39 people and set ablaze more than 1000 homes.
Located close to Maiduguri, Konduga was targeted once again in September, however the terrorists met a terrible defeat when they lost over 200 of their members, including the man believed to be the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau.
But the insurgents returned September 15, still to meet a stiffer counter-attack by Nigerian troop that led to another massive loss of their members. Another attempt to seize the town two days later also failed.
