Comedian Chris Rock In Trouble For Illegally Adopting South African Girl [PICS]

Popular American comedian, Chris Rock is facing a huge battle on two fronts… One with the divorce case with his ex-wife..Secondly, South Africa’s authority breathing down his neck over his adopted daughter.

Police in South Africa confirmed that they are investigating Chris Rock and his former wife, for taking a girl to the United States.

Rock and his former wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, who are going through a divorce, brought the girl named Ntombi, to their home in Alpine, New Jersey, in 2008, via a travel visa.

The couple took her from her parents with their consent, but without formally adopting her, leading police to investigate the case as child trafficking.

Rock, who had been raising the girl with his former wife, said that the 7-year-old child is the daughter of a family friend from South Africa.

His former wife first met the family at a charity event.

Police said that the law prevents parents from allowing their children to travel overseas indefinitely with third parties.

Police in South Africa, said that they are concerned because there has not been regular contact between the 7-year-old girl and her biological parents, who have three other children.

“If money or gifts changed hands in exchange for the child going overseas, it sounds very much like child trafficking,” police said.

The couple raised the young girl as their own along with their two biological daughters. The issue was brought to the attention of police because Compton-Rock is looking to legally adopt the girl.
